SDN and The Engineering Team of the Future

The University of Waikato and REANNZ are building and deploying production SDN network with rapid automated deployment of software and configuration. These networks are based on the Faucet SDN controller. This talk first presents an overview of Faucet, how it is deployed to create a multi-vendor production network. Then the implications of this style of networking for the engineering team are discussed. REANNZ are using their experience of Faucet to build an engineering team to support future networks built around concepts of heavy automation and rapid deployment.
