It is becoming increasingly common for smaller institutions to use cloud providers’ directory services as their authoritative (and sometimes the only) source of identity information. These cloud services often offer rich APIs and good support for web-based authentication. However, they often preclude basic network AAA protocols like RADIUS. How then can we get eduroam working if we only use Google’s GSuite for Education? One possibility might be to use IMAP as a source of identity information, and this talk presents a proof-of-concept that shows how this could be done.
